T'ovma Arcruni and his World: Armenian Historical Traditions in the Ninth and Tenth Centuries

I received my MA(Hons) in History from the University of St Andrews in 2017. I completed an MPhil in Late Antique and Byzantine Studies at Oriel College in 2019, and I am currently reading for a DPhil in History at Balliol College. My DPhil research focuses on T'ovma Arcruni's History of the House of the Arcrunik'. The History provides a unique insight into a period of radical transformation for the Near East in the ninth and tenth centuries. This was an era that witnessed the decline of the ʿAbbāsid Caliphate, the emergence of an independent Kingdom of Vaspurakan, and the renewal of Byzantine expansion along the Eastern Frontier.
